Men Skin Care Advice

Facial Skin Care Guide for Men – Tips for Women

Facial skin care should be differently designed for men and women. Complete facial care requires daily gentle cleansing, an occasional deep cleansing mask and the regular use of moisturizers.

Men’s faces are prone to redness and inflammation. Men’s facial skin care products should contain ingredients that address those issues. There are many ways to do that. Some have been around for many years. Others are newly discovered

Special Facial Care Ingredients – What Are the Benefits?
.
An extract from sheep’s wool has been shown to inhibit the production of PGE2, which is the major pathway leading to redness and inflammation.

TIP: This extract is also found in facial care for women, because it reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

When properly combined with other compounds it covers the daily need for moisturizing. Moisture is important for the maintenance of firmness and elasticity. If you have sagging skin under your neck or bags under your eyes, this will help.

Razor Burn Problem – How Can It Be Solved?

Razor burns are another problem experienced by men, as are shaving nicks and scrapes.

TIP: Women get them on other parts of their body, but it’s not a facial skin care issue for them.

The average aftershave contains lots of alcohol. That’s why you get the burning sensation. Witch hazel extract is the best choice for aftershave facial care. It’s soothing. It further reduces redness and inflammation. It’s a natural astringent, so it has anti-bacterial activity. That’s particularly important to prevent infection from a nick or scrape.

The fruit from the Capuacu tree, native to South America, has been used for thousands of years to heal sunburns. Now, we are seeing it in some of the best facial skin care creams for men. That will take care of your razor burn.

Facial Care Vitamins – How Do They Help Your Skin?

Vitamins, not the kind you take by mouth, but those you apply directly are important components for any facial care system. Of course, you still need to take your daily multivitamins, but the ones that provide the most protection for your face are antioxidants.

Vitamin E and coenzyme Q10 are the two most effective. A new nano-emulsion form combines the two. The form is ultrafine, so it penetrates deeply. Antioxidants provide UV protection, prevent free radical damage and undo some of the damage that has already been done. Only the best facial skin care lotions contain the nano-emulsion. It’s called H EQ10.

Men’s facial care creams should contain vitamin B5. It helps repair tissue and naturally protects against sunburn. It provides additional relief from existing burns and enhances the natural tanning process.

TIP: Women may want to look for this ingredient in body lotion, but it is not typically sought out for facial skin care. A special passion fruit extract is a desirable ingredient in women’s facial care lotion. It contains an essential fatty acid that is import to revitalize and rejuvenate. It also balances sebum production, so you don’t get oily spots in some places and dry ones in others. It’s perfect for use under cosmetics.

Look for ingredients like these to use every day. Then, occasionally use a deep cleansing mask containing clay extracts. That’s really about all you need for good facial skin care. You’ll look younger, for it.

  5. QUESTION:
    Advice on Skin Care regime?
Ok, well I’m an 18 year old guy and I just need some advice on a couple of skincare ideas…

To begin, basically I have pretty sensitive and dry skin, and it is also slightly acne prone. I finished taking an isotane (anti-acne) course about two months ago, which got rid of most of my acne, although I have some marks on my checks.

In the morning and and night I use “neutrogena oil free acne wash, cream cleanser” w salicylic acid. Then I moisturize with L’OREAL men expert hydra-sensitive.

Occasionally, I use “Garnier Prue active blackhead clearing scrub” w salicylic acid as a exfoliater.
Last of all I have just begun using Benzac AC 2.5% to combat occasional spots.

    Now for the questions…

Is it normal for my skin to feel tight/dry after cleansing and before moisturizing?

Also recently i have been getting whiteheads around my mouth and chin, what could be causing this and what would be the best way to stop it? (I have been told that using lip balm a lot can cause this, which I have stopped as of yesterday)

What could I use to help remove acne scars on my checks?

Finally, is the products I use good for my skin type? (sensitive/dry)
What other products could you recommend that would be beneficial while also keep away basic acne?
Does my regime cover all the basics of skincare?

    Thanks in advance

    • ANSWER:
I personally use Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser Mask to dry up acne. As far as your dry skin goes I would try to moisturize right after you cleanse, while your face is still damp. Now for acne scars you could try a laser treatment, it would actually help your acne as well. Those are pretty expensive, but well worth it.

  7. QUESTION:
    I Feel That…?
I feel that most men (sexual orientation doesn’t matter) ARE interested in skin care (beyond shaving, I’m talking self-tan lotions, eye creams, exfoliators, etc.) and a lot of men are looking for tips and advice on products they should use (we can see that from the ton of questions guys ask on here).

What I’ve seen is a desire for skin care advice and also a reassurance of “masculinity” from others. I think creating a new brand of products developed to address men’s grooming needs that not only had point-of-sale service for advice and demonstrations, but also a masculine image and packaging (not overdone though) would help men feel better about skin care and would drive the men’s industry into billions & beyond!

What do you think? Am I “right on the mark”?

  8. QUESTION:
Skin care for females in their late 20’s?
I am a 29 yr. old female, and I am trying to get a regular skin regimen going on. Unfortunately, I know very little about this stuff. I don’t have wrinkles and don’t get out in the sun much. I am also brown skinned- Southeast Asian. I currently use neutragena bar soup (usually fragarance free), then a scrub- either St. Ives or Nivea for Men… I use the Nivea more cause it is gentler and I notice less dry skin thru out the day. I have very dry skin around my nose and cheeks so the scrubbing helps me clear it off. Oh, and then a Dove SPF 15 moisturizer. I have been thinking about going the Oil of Olay Regenerist route… but have no idea what to get! Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? Any other brands…?

Advice For How To Attract Men?
Here is a line from the following study: “Aside from symmetry, males in Western cultures generally prefer females with a small jaw, a small nose, large eyes, and defined cheekbones.”

My life is fairly forfeit right now; I’m not pretty at all and I have none of the attractive features described.

Please, please advice me on surgical procedures and other methods of looking attractive. All my other qualities are thrown in the toilet if no one wants to look at me and dig deeper.

I am begging you. No one I like will give me time of day and make me feel like I’m on this planet to see love and happiness, but to only feel pain.

I beg of you for advice.

  10. QUESTION:
How can I make more guy friends *no hate please, thank you =)*?
I’m a gay guy and I want to make more guy friends, gay or straight. I was having a conversation with my dad in the car when we were picking up my mom from work. He asked me about my classes for my spring semester, I’m in college, and I told him that I was pretty happy with my classes because I have a few friends in my classes. My dad asked me who they were, and I told him it their names. This is funny part, my dad asked me if some of my classes were for girls haha! My dad doesn’t really know English that well, so I told him that I’m in art school and that I that they don’t make separate a classes for males and females haha! So that got me thinking of who my closest friends were and I came to realize that they were all girls! I don’t like using labels but I’ll do just to explain myself better. I’m not effeminate nor am I “butch” I consider myself in between, but I’m just a little bit more attached to my feminine side. I had a few straight guy friends in high school, but we lost contact. I want to make more guy friends but the thing is I can’t relate to them fully. The straight ones because they usually talk about sports, girls, and other stuff that I don’t really understand. Although my guy friends from high school would always come to me for girl advice and skin care for men. I guess I’d like that from a straight guy friend. For gay friends, I can’t find gay guys who aren’t completely effeminate where I’m from. They’re usually wearing tight fitting clothes, all stylish and what not, with “fierce” attitudes. Nothing against those type of gay guys, I just know I can’t relate to them. I’d like to make friends with gay guys who are laid back, artsy and can be fashionable but not over the top you know? It’s so frustrating haha! Any advice please? I’d highly appreciate it! Thank you =)

    • ANSWER:
I have the exact same…. i wouldn’t call it a problem, just a situation i guess. Im gay, im still in high school, and ALL my friends are girls, every single one, and no im not one of those really gay, gay people, that are extremely feminine, i just cant relate to most strait guys, i don’t have a solution for your problem, but i thought id tell you that i am the same way..

  11. QUESTION:
How to prevent razor burn for men?
My husbands hair grows every which way, which makes shaving a problem. He shaves up and then down and then side to side, in order to get all the hair. He’s tried everything. Electric razors dont work, heat the skin doesnt work, cooling the skin doesnt work. I work in skin care and I SHOULD know how to help him, but nothing seems to work. Any advice would help out a lot. Thanks

      shower shave!

make it the last thing he does before he gets out of the shower. his beard will be it’s softest as will his skin…
use a good safety razor (i have a gillette fusion) and a shave gel (not the can ones, but one in a tube). most of the time i get “king of shaves” at the drug store, but the top designers make nice ones that i like to treat myself to also 😉
i suggest shaving twice a day until the razor burn dissipates,,, change blades often, i change every two to three weeks… he can shave against the grain this way for the closest shave possible also…
you really don’t need a mirror in the shower, you can feel your way through the shave and clean up your sideburns when out of the shower…

      good luck!

  12. QUESTION:
Am i taking care of my skin correctly?
I was wondering if I could get some advice. I believe i have combination skin type. I have oily skin around my forehead but not really on my nose or chin. The rest of my face is relatively normal. I’d like to take care of my skin as best as i can as I usually shave my face every morning after a shower.

What i usually use is “Neutrogena Acne Wash Oil-Free.”
I use that to wash my face. It usually dries my face up so as for a moisturizer I use “Vaseline for men Body, and face and hand lotion.” That seems to hydrate my skin at makes it smooth after.

Is this a good combination to have? If not, can anyone give me suggestions as to the proper mix or a good line of products?
    THank you!

What to learn in beauty school?
Can someone tell me what programs are included in a beauty school? I’m particular interested in men’s skin care and make up for both genders, is it possible to obtain this particular license?

Also I’m 45 years old, getting into creative beauty has been my dream but for some reason I had to start late. Will it be a problem?

And how much will it costs? I’m in search of a school in New York.

    Your advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Well congrats, first off, for following your dream. That’s pretty cool. Also, I agree with the other respondant… It really varies from program to program and from school to school. The best bet you have is to really do your research. Check out as many schools as possible and request information. The more you learn the more you can narrow down your options. Check out http://www.BeautySchoolsDirectory.com and http://www.MySocialBeauty.com in order to check out some available schools that might work for you… I used those sites as a resource when I was looking.

      Good luck!! Hope this helps!

  15. QUESTION:
Hi does a man care what color a vagina is ? dark or light?
Hi does a man care what color a vagina is ? dark or light? I am under the impression that men dont like darker colored vaginas, mine is dark and i always feel so shy around my husband i always turn off the light, I am a tan skin color lighter than halle berry, my ex used to tell me he hated dark vaginas and now after being with my husband for 10 years I still dont feel secure, even though he loves having sexual relations with me, but I hate feeling so self conscience about this issue, any advice?
BY THE WAY MY EX WAS MY VERY FIRST SEXUAL PARTNER AND HE DID A GOOD JOB ON MY SELF ESTEEM., BECAUSE HE WAS 13 YRS OLDER THAN ME AND HAD A LOW SELF ESTEEM

    • ANSWER:
I don’t think your husband cares about the color of your Private area. All colors pink, lite pink, brown, lite brown, and so on. It’s all good to guys trust me. The only things that turn men off is bad hygiene and over grown hair. The rest is all good.

  16. QUESTION:
Christian men please help me! I am having a really hard time with my purity and dressing modestly?
I’m 17 years old and have known God for about two years.
Before I was a Christian I used to dress and act really scandalously, but the Bible has taught me how important modesty is.

I definitely am covering a lot more than I used to, but I still can’t help but show some skin now and then. I don’t like wearing short shorts, but I wear dresses a lot. I usually try to make sure they’re down to the knee but it’s not like that all the time and sometimes they’re too short.

My biggest problem is showing cleavage. I am very well endowed in the chest area, so it’s not only hard to cover up but it’s also tempting. I know I am going to get more attention from guys, and I know this is so wrong but I try to get attention from a certain Christian guy, if I show off some cleavage.

It makes me feel good at that moment, but it depresses me at the end of the day knowing that Christian men wouldn’t want to get to know me because I don’t dress as modestly as I should. True Christian men don’t want to build a relationship with scandalous girls, and I admit I’m one of them.

The real reason why I’m like this is because I’m very insecure. I think I’m ugly. I know God made me in His image and I’m beautiful in His eyes, but to the world’s eyes I’m think I’m ugly. And even Christian men care a lot about looks.

I feel like showing off the skin I do makes Christian guys more attracted to me, but it’s sad because I know it’s only in that moment and they wouldn’t care about me in the long run.

I’ve been watching videos on youtube on what Christian men think of the way women dress, and all of them said that women who dress provacatively look pathetic, they’re trying too hard for attention, and they wouldn’t want to pursue any kind of relationship with them (friendship, romantic, etc.)

So what do I do about this? Please I need some advice

    • ANSWER:
Im not sure I see what your problem is here. You answered your own question. You know what Christian men look for quality wise in a woman….so do not dress scandalous. Pretty simple. That is like saying…im fat cause i eat, but I eat because im fat…doesnt make sense. Stop dressing scanalous and have pure thoughts. Christian men will flock to you.

  17. QUESTION:
need advice on good face creams and moisturizers (natural/organic)?
Ok, I need advice from some people knowledgable in this subject.

I’m a man, in his mid-20’s, who needs skin care help. Now, I am often told I look older, 30ish, not in a bad way, I just have a mature look. But, it bugs me, I aged a lot in the past few years. Mostly, I believe, moving to Arizona and riding my back in the Arizona sun.

I had acne problems my entire life and finally got it under control the passed few years, mostly with diet (strict no-dairy/ no-wheat/ no processed foods)and proper facial washing- so I have oily skin. But, I don’t moisturize or do any of that stuff, but, in fear of aging worse and worse, I’d like to slow it down.

So, I need help, I use alba pineapple facial scrub in the morning, with the hibiscus toner, then at night I use Neutrogena acne face wash (the orange crap) with the toner, then neutrogena moisturizer (recently added the past few months, it works ok I guess).

Does anyone have any AMAZING facial creams I can add before bed, preferably all-natural or organic? Plus, a good facial cream for the morning, nothing too heavy and wont make me look greasy.

    • ANSWER:
If you cut open a Vitamin E capsule and rub the oil into your skin about half an hour before showering, it will penetrate and soften your skin.

There’s a product called Bio-Oil www.bio-oil.com/en/ingredients/index.html which isn’t wholly natural although it does have a lot of natural ingredients, and this is a WONDERFUL skin repairer!!

You might also like to try a weekly face mask/mud pack, they’re great for cleansing/softening the skin.

Hope’s Relief www.hopes.com.au is a lovely natural cream which is especially for problem skin conditions, I have used it on my face though when I’ve run out of moisturiser and it’s lovely, penetrates and soaks in almost instantly, so this would be a good one for the morning, to leave no residue.

The most important thing you can do apart from cleansing gently and moisturising is to use high protection sunscreen every day, and wear a wide brimmed hat.

The products I’ve mentioned are readily available in Australia (our sun is pretty harsh too lol) but I’m sure would either be available in the US or could be shipped there. They really are excellent!

Ok I need some opinions and advice on this situation. Men opnions mostly. Women you can help.?
Ok my boyfriend and I broke up. He has been cheating on me numerous of times. We live in different states. He has caught different std’s and he has herpes. He was emotional abusive towards me and pressuring me on my looks all the time. Telling me not to gain weight and telling me to stay out of the sun because I might get too dark skinned. He was always talking about someone dark skinned throughout our whole relationship. The first girl I caught him with was a cute girl. She was light skinned and shade lighter then me, slim and had a cute face. Someone who would stand out as attractive. That’s a long story, but anyway he started seeing this other female. He added he on his facebook one day. I asked him is he seeing her and he told me ” hell no! that girl is ugly” he said you know my type, “short, kinda thick, light skinned with long hair” I believed him because he was always on my back and pressuring me on my looks and this girl looked totally different then what he said he was attracted to. She wasn’t cute at all, she was VERY dark skinned and she wore alot of wigs which he said he hated and I found out she has brain cancer. He said he cared about her. I don’t get it. He was so hyped about the women he liked and told me to keep myself looking a certain way. All that pressure on me. Now he is with her! I don’t understand this at all? Please I need some opinions!

We’re african american if your wondering what I mean by dark skinned! Thanks.

  20. QUESTION:
Christians: Do you have any advice on how to heal from a man I loved who left me for someone who “looks better?
I am a single mother, and by the grace of God found and started to follow the truth of Jesus Christ our Lord, when I was pregnant. I repented for my sins and I raised my son and concentrated on The Holy Bible for five years. I had gained a lot of weight while I was pregnant and through the five years finally lost it, but sadly I had loose skin and stretch marks. I started to date one man last year. I told him I wasn’t comfortable with my body, he and I still saw eachother. I am down to almost what I was before I had my son, very close and I am trying to care for my skin and I even, God willing, plan on getting abdominoplasty and such (not much) and to continue exercising to fix myself to be the best I can be. I didn’t share this with the man I was dating, but about a year later he was acting different anyhow. I have come to find out he found someone else. He has been working in the nightclubs as he lost his other jobs and that is what he used to do before.

This other girl has kids too but leaves them with her ex husband to go be with him in the clubs, I don’t like leaving my son. She also because of my skin, and I need to tone up even more, has a “better body” than me. So for the last year I have been giving him my love, feelings, money, time and care and he leaves me for someone who looks better than me. I contacted her to ask her if they were seeing eachother because he was still seeing me and wouldn’t tell me. She was rude and told me there’s something wrong with me because I have a child out of wedlock and she was married to her now ex husband. The guy I was seeing was never married, but now he asked her to marry him because she looks better and fits with his entertainment industry job. He told me throught at least the last five months he wasn’t seeing anyone else and we agreed if there was someone else we were more interested in we would let eachother know. He also said I could not have any guys or guy friends in my personal life. We did family things together, and I am so sad about how it turned out. I feel guilty and really want to just obey God’s will.

I know he left me because of my body, but it still hurts because I love him and fell for him. Do you have any advice on how to not be so sad about this and to move on? Scripture and Jesus directed help is very appreciated. thank you very much for your time and help. God Bless!

    • ANSWER:
      Melissa,

Your looks are unimportant. Its who you are inside. If a man chooses a woman based on looks alone, then he’s a fool.

This ex boyfriend of yours, he’s selfish, arrogant, hypocritical and ridiculous. This other woman, she’s the one who got him now, but think he cheated on you, he will eventually cheat on her too. If he had an ounce of decency in you, he would’ve treated you with love, respect, care, tenderness, affection and human decency.

He didn’t do anything loving towards you. He simply used you.

Just leave him alone. This was God’s message to you that that man was not right for you. He is the other woman’s curse in life. Trust me.

You will find the right man some day. I know it.

I would also suggest that you spend a little more time defining yourself and your happiness first from deep inside you, instead of trying to divine it out of the Bible or what you think is God’s will.

When you finally dig deep down and stand tall with self-respect and kindness towards yourself FIRST, then other men will without a doubt be attracted to you, unlike your ex boyfriend, who was attracted to the sex he got from you instead of the love you tried to give him.

You and I both know the difference here.

You wanted this man, but he took that as a sign to use you. You loved this man, he took that as a sign of weakness and then used you.

You needed this man, he left you for another woman.

That’s not love Melissa. And he’s no good for you. If anything you should be grateful you’re not stuck with him.

If you want to think about God’s will, then believe me you’re blessed he’s out of your life so you can move on and find a real man to love you, not a selfish child.

  21. QUESTION:
Men does plastic surgery turn you off?
ok I am 23, married and i have two daughters. My husband and i have discussed having more kids and when we are finished I want to get a tummy tuck and a breast reduction/lift. im not overly vain or anything. My breasts are very large and heavy they cause me a lot of problems and because they are so big they are not as perky as i think they should be at my age. My tummy is destroyed. During my first pregnancy i got so many stretchmarks that there is more stretched skin on my belly then not stretched skin and it goes up above my belly button. Honestly is looks like something out of a horror movie. I want to look young and sexy for my husband, i’m not overweight and i take care of myself but those two parts of my body make me fear he is secretly turned off by me and i am turned off by myself. but i am afraid if i get plastic surgery he will see me as fake or superficial and i don’t want that…men i need your advice!

    • ANSWER:
My wife is going in for a reduction/ lift on the 7th. As far as that goes, the surgery is for your health. Back and shoulders. It will lead to migraines, neck problems, bowing of the upper back, ruts in your shoulders, etc. I wouldn’t suggest plastic surgery to anyone unless they need it for health reasons. Regardless of the procedure, you are still you. You will want to wait until you are done having children, for sure. The cosmetic surgery your talking about for your midsection, will help your relationship. Not because your husband thinks you look any better , but because you feel better about yourself, hence your find yourself more attractive and more attentive to him. I sure your husband will reap the benefits of that. Plan on getting a mammogram for the reduction. Heads up.

  22. QUESTION:
I’m getting scared of aging. Any advice?
It’s tough. I’m 28 years old, and well,…I hate being called “Sir” everywhere, and once I was the young thing partying it up, and now people “look up” to me, in a way it’s cool because you have more authority being a grown man, but what sucks is, you really can’t get away with wearing certain clothes anymore, you can’t “rock out” to music as much because you’ll look like a total idiot, and well,

you just feel closer to death, haha. It just sucks, because with aging, at least from my perspective in our youth-oriented society, opportunities/chances go,.. dating/sex life might decrease,

I’m just petrified of it. Also there doesn’t seem to be ANYTHING we can really do to stop it.

I mean to a degree. We can diet/exercize all we want, eat right, …

then again there are cosmetics/skin care, certain products, and even extremes like plastic surgery we can do,

but that all can only do so much, and even if you do end up looking a bit younger or “great for your age,”

you will still age chronologically regardless.

So how does one learn to deal with the fact that we’re getting older, and things are going to change,

and yes, we’re going to die eventually.

It just sucks because way back when life was ahead of us, and seemed like…aging/all of this, we can do it, we’ll be better, we’ll age better, we’ll do better…it won’t be a big deal..I’ll just work out more do my hair a certain way,

but no, it has a way of “catching up to you,” and then you look in the mirror one day and you’r elike,” who is this man i do not recognize in front of me?”

I’m getting there now and it’s a bit scary. It really is.

    • ANSWER:
Think of it as developing from teen to adulthood and look at aging as an experience

  24. QUESTION:
My feelings on bi-racial couples, give me opinions, advice help!?
Okay, so first of all, i’d like to make it clear that i’m a 15 year old teenager, and i haven’t started dating (oh and im on my cousins account cause i dont have my own yet but anyway that’s not the problem).
Okay, so i, love and accept everyone. I respect everyone for who they are and i see beauty in everyone. And when it comes to dating and love, i never judge people by their looks. But it’s impossible for EVERYONE to like every type of look. Everyone has a differeny opinion/preferance about different looks. Everyone is attracted to different looks. I’m attracted to tall thin dark men.
Many people would probably say racist things because i’m white, but i don’t care about skin color, it means nothing to me.
There’s this guy that i’m actually really good friends with, and he’s also tall, black, and thin, and i think i’m starting to have a crush on him, not because of his looks, but because of his character, and how he understands me and is always sweet, funny, humble and shy. Now you might suppose that this is just a faze and that i am attracted to black guys because i have a crush on a guy that looks like that, but it’s not like that. I’m not saying that i don’t like white guys, it’s just that i am attracted to certain guys, and in this case, they look like this. In my eyes, they are beautiful men.
Reggie Bush, Chris Tucker, Chris Brown, Michael Jackson (especially from the Thriller Era), and i could go on.
I think they’re beautiful people and i hate how people are racist. They don’t deserve it. They’re people and they have feelings. They have hearts. They don’t deserve to be judged badly.
In fact, no one deserves to be judged for who they are. We are all equal.
It’s just, the problem is, due to the culture that we live in, people are racists. And i’m not saying that my family is really racist and stuff, but my father wouldn’t approve of my love for these type of guys. I just feel so bad about it, because what if i start dating men like these men? What if he won’t let me see them? He has to be so f…….ing racist and rude. He doesn’t get it. He’s ignorant. What happens if i want to marry a man that is black? What is his problem? What can i do?

    • ANSWER:
if you want to marry someone who is black who cares!!
the only thing you have to do is love him unconditionally and that’s it.
dnt worry about what other people think because that’s only going to lead to unhappiness.

  26. QUESTION:
Any legal advice re: ruined honeymoon uk please!!!!?
recently honeymooned at a cottage in chanel islands. The shower kept giving us really bad electric shocks and blowing out all the electrics in the building. Our food in the freezer was ruined. Twice it was ‘fixed’ but it just gave us bigger and bigger electric shocks. We ended up leaving that night scared we would be electrocuted or die in a fire there!

Afterwards we wrote to the owners saying we wanted compensation for the hotel we then had to stay in, for having to cut short our holiday, waste of food, and for the days we had been there. They refuse and offer us free accommodation for the nights we didn’t stay – but why the HELL would we want that! They also say that they offered us altnerative cottage next door but we did not trust these people, we wanted the cottage we had booked – which was 4 star not to electrocute us! I wrote to them stating the costs and saying we would accept 75% of this back. There were other issues – because we couldn’t shower and their pool was highly chlorinated I suffered seriously irritated skin for the next few days. there were work men first thing in the morning waking us up with their hammering. These people knew we were on honeymoon – it was ruined and they don’t care!

Can any one offer me any advice, I’m sure others have had similar experiences, perhaps you can offer me advice? Please, I don’t want these people to get away with it, and I worry for other people going there. I just don’t know what to do. I don’t want to go to a solictor and pay so they can tell me I don’t have a case. The cottage was in Guernsey, I’m a uk citizen.

thanks so much in advance !!!!

    • ANSWER:
It is one of those things you can take to the small claims court but in view of the distance that could be difficult. Although it would show the owners that you are serious which may push them into making you an offer of some sort which you find acceptable.

Whilst I have no reason to disbelieve you if you do go to court then you will be required to prove what you say is true.

The citizens advice bureau may be able to offer you some advice which will be helpful but to be honest I do not think that your word against theirs is going to get you far.

They will say that they offered you alternative accommodation which you declined. Since that was all they could do under the circumstances the court probably wont find that unreasonable.

I am assuming that this was a private arrangement and not a booking made through a tour operator.

You could write to the tourist board who usually take complaints about safety very seriously

  27. QUESTION:
I have a question about skin?
sorry for posting this in the wrong area, but im not actually looking for advice to get rid of the skin condition, just looking for general replies.. and the other section i posted in didnt gvie me any replies.

Anyways I am very self concious about my skin, i have terrible stretch marks due to growth spurt (when i was a teen),some weight gain and also because of weight lifting.. I guess you could say my skin is horribly ugly.. Do any of you have stretch marks on your body (like lower back, hips, arms)? and do they bother you a lot that you dont want to take your shirt off? (im talking to men here by the way but girls can answer too)..or do you know people that have stretch marks and dont care about them and still take their shirts off? sorry if this questions seems a bit obsessive im just tired of being so self concious and feeling ugly.

    • ANSWER:
I don’t have many, just a bit around my stomach where I put on a ton of weight for a while, and on my arms from weights, but I’m hopelessly self-concious about them. Generally, I just try not to act upon it, and pretend I’m totally not self-concious about every single one of my flaws. It is really quite exhausting, but so is being self-concious. I find a good trick is to find something you absolutely adore about your body, and whenever you’re feeling self-concious, remind yourself about this wonderful gorgeous thing about you, and think about nothing but that and how gorgeous you are until the self-conciousness passes.

  28. QUESTION:
    Question about care of herpes?
my world is falling apart around me…… i am in the process of waiting on herpes testing results, i have been having horrible symptoms both genitally and orally.
i have been with only one man(it only takes one!) and he has never had a symptom of anything, but i am almost certain it is herpes(happy 21st birthday to me!), but am also hopeful that it could be symptoms of a severe case of thrush………its hard to tell because there symptoms are so alike…..

    anyway……..

i have been putting abreva and lysine+ sore managers on one spot of my bottom lip where it looked like one started to develop. After a couple of days it started turning into this greenish-yellow bump and got bigger…..but there was skin over top of it and seem to be dry. My lips have been very very very dry and I STUPIDLY tried to pull of some of the dead skin(with tweezers) I accidentally took off the skin of the sore, there was no puss but to little spots started bleedingand it seems that other spots were still covered by this yellowish-green skin.

i let it dry first without touching it or allowing it to touch any other part of my mouth and then washed it with a q-tip(soap and water) and put abreva on it and around the area that might touch it(using different q-tips for each area). do you think this was the right thing to do(AFTER pulling it off)? Im walking around with my mouth open like a dog trying to not let it touch anything. Any further advice toward taking care of this would be greatly appreciated:)

ALSO- do you think if i put a “liquid bandage” it would help to stop the speading at all?

    Thanks:)

    • ANSWER:
Either yes Abreva or Lysine don’t use both. You can also close your mouth, it’s possible but you’re not likely to spread it to other locations. The virus doesn’t last for more then seconds after it leaves the body.
Don’t use liquid bandage, that will only irritate your cold sore. Cold sores usually take a week or two to heal. Keep applying either lysine or abreva to your sore, it should get better. If it doesn’t get any better in a week or two you may want to see a doctor and get some antiviral medication.

  29. QUESTION:
    Finding a mature gay men..?
    My story is long.

I am in highschool. But I am much mature than my age. Just please don’t ask why. I am tired of trying to get other’s respects and trusts about this.
However, I am a highschool student, and 90% of my friends were seniors. OH THAT’S SO COOL~~ nah that’s not the point. I really don’t think hanging out with seniors is a cool thing. But it’s just that they are… much more interesting and click with me better. Not only the physical way, but their mental states are so much more appealing to me and I find them attractive..

Till last year, I did not know I was gay. Or was I pressing it…
I had a great friends, a very great friend. And later when he hooked up with a girl, that is when I started to discover myself.

The question is, the seniors have graduated. And, well i am well known to the whole school, but it’s that… they know me, but not the real me. What they know is, the one I acted in school. But the people who truly know me were the senior friends, that we hung out outside of school.

It took me a long time to get over him. And I still think that I might be.

The thing is, how would I meet people?? I definatly want to be in a relationship. Yeah, maybe partly because I want to get over him, but I don’t think so. But I’ll just keep that in mind just in case I’m denying it.

I find noone in my highschool attractive. There is about 3~4, but they are all not gay. And… Of course, I find my usual friend’s age much more appealing. That opens up my option to college people. But I am not in college, and it’s not even that all my friends went to the college in my area. They left all over the world..

How can I meet another person..? Gay bar, my age does not permit. I do drink, but nothing more than a normal highschool student, not alcoholic. I dearly want to meet someone..!!

I am an asian, and due to my height and… my dear care for my skin 😛 I look very young. If I only dressed so, I think I could looke like 12. But it is ALWAYS, whenever I meet somebody and talk to them, after a while, they would say something as ‘you look mature’. It’s so hard… to even get a chance because of my looks..!

Where can I meet these people..? How can I..? Just go around to random college parties??

The thing is, I do not want to meet someone who is a sexual predator that goes around on the internet sites, and.. meeting people. Basically, not a big fan of people who meet online. So.. does this mean I should wait till I’m old enough to go to gay bars, and till I’m in college..??

    How can I meet someone..!?

Any advice that would help my teenage insecurity would also be most appreciated.
    Oh.. and umm…
Not into people with too whiney voices and hand gestures and ass popping walks…;; And that’s why it’s so hard..! People who are obvious, are just out of my interest..

i should either not be picky, or turn into a freakin hot guy, or just keep touching myself till the time comes for chrissake…!
I geez I want to be crazy about someone..! someone.. that I can always go to, and… cuddle.. and.. have a meaningful relationship with.

    • ANSWER:
Believe it or not. There’s plenty of mature gay men. LAW OF ATTRACTION! YOU ARE NOT LETTING A NEW LOVER COME IN.

  30. QUESTION:
If you know about removing men’s facial hair, please help me?
Hello. I am a 16-year-old male and grow a considerable amount of hair on my face (upper lip, sideburns, chin, neck, and some on my cheeks).

My current facial hair removal routine consists of plucking the thick black ones every now and then and shaving with a Gillette razor and a shaving gel. No one ever gave me proper facial hair removal advice and kind of found this way on my own. I’ve been doing this for the past 2-3 years.

It’s just become so much of a hassle shaving/plucking so much, I am severely growing tired and am desperate for an alternative method.

Let me just say, I HATE my facial hair. I don’t care if you’re some big “strong” man–don’t tell me to “quit being a b*tch and grow a beard”. Some males like facial hair, and some don’t. I for one, DON’T! I hate it, I think it’s gross. On my face that is, I don’t think it’s disgusting on other males’.

Some reasons why I hate plucking/shaving is because of the damage it does. Plucking (especially on the cheek ares) seems to make my pores bigger and irritates my skin and I’m afraid it will cause scarring. I hate shaving because it makes my face feel raw and when I do get the occasional pimple, if I accidentally shave over it or something.. well.. it sucks….. not to mention the risk of cutting the face with the razor.

Anyways, I would like to do electrolysis but its too expensive.
So, I am asking what are some alternatives? What do YOU do? I’ve searched and searched online but NO ONE EVER gives a straight, detailed answer! They always seem to leave you hanging…

Is waxing a good way to go? IF SO: What kind of wax is best for men’s facial hair? Where do I get it? Where do I get the paper/cloth stuff to wax with? The waxing pot? See? You can’t just tell me “WAX YOUR FACE!” ..I need more help then that, I’m not retarded.

Orr is there a depilatory cream (hair removal cream) formulated for facial hair? Or even better, men’s facial hair. IF SO: What brand? What’s the name of the product? Where do I get it?

Thank you SO MUCH for taking your time to read. I’m in distress and would greatly appreciate your advice. Even if you’ve found the “best” depilatory cream and it’s your “secret”… just put yourself in my shoes and sacrifice and tell me what it is!

    Or you can e-mail me @ dylanisavillan@yahoo.com
    if that’s better for you.

    Thanks again!
    -Dylan

    • ANSWER:
Try an electric shaver + aftershave (or your Gillette + aftershave). Aftershave should alleviate your skin irritation concerns.

I don’t think wax or hair removal cream is meant to be used on the face. Plus, I’d assume that paying for any type of hair removal service is just going to get more expensive than buying a half decent electric shaver + aftershave.

  31. QUESTION:
Is there something wrong with liking metro sexual men (or at least a bit feminine)?
I have always liked men that are really clean, I mean REALLY clean. Everything waxed and shaved ( Little bit of waxing his legs wouldn’t kill me, doing his eyebrows are fine too, as long as he doesn’t over do it.) Uses skin lotion, has spiky hair, fashionable taste. He doesn’t have to be crazy about shopping necessarily but does enjoy fashion.
I’m 16 years old and my friends say Hell no, men like that are gay. I’m like yes but there are some that are straight! I’m defiantly not into hairy masculine men with tattoos and kind of smell. They are into cars, sports, etc and I hate that. Now “normal guys” The ones that don’t care much about clothes, looks, and so on, woman like that? Most of them are harry chested and I really don’t see how some woman find that attractive. However there are very few masculine men that are both fashionable and Clean yet handsome and straight.
So yeah is there something wrong with me for liking metro sexual men (or at least a bit feminine?) Or should I stick to what men suppose to be? I’m really confused at this point because people say it isn’t right for men to be “that clean” or ” that fashionable.”
Oh and girls out there, please give me your best advice and don’t be mean ok? same thing for guys. Thank you

    • ANSWER:
If that is your preference, then why worry about what others think? Part of being mature is not worrying about someones opinion of your own tastes. Personally, I could not be with a guy who spent more time on grooming himself than the majority of women. Hair sprouting from the nose and ears does turn me off – nor am I wild about a ton of hair covering their backs, but other than that I like my men more on the ‘masculine’ side.

  32. QUESTION:
How to care of my face? I’m’m guy 28 y.o. Which cosmetics? When?
Hi. I want to take proper care of my face. Please give me advice how do do it. Which cosmetics? My skin type is normal/oily.
I’m man 28. I want to use good products and get good results. Any professional dermatologies up there?
    Thanks for help
Full answers please, not just advice that I need to wash my face twice a day. I know it.
I need to know why? Which stuff is better? What else can I use apart of cleanser and moisturiser? Which type of moisturiser etc.
Oh, yeah, what abot the masks? Should I use antyaging creams and night creams as well?
    Thanks

    • ANSWER:
First, and this I harp on, stay out of the sun, wear sunscreen or a hat. That said, pick up some handmade soap for your face – goats milk if possible, it is much less harsh than what you can find at the store. For a facial moisturizer, I use Olay’s Regenerist and love it. You can use this morning and night. And you know, there is nothing wrong with using an eye creme. I use an eye creme from Yves Roche but there are so many good ones out there, find something that you like – most department stores will provide you will samples. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to take good care of your skin.

  34. QUESTION:
    Need advice/feedback from girls?
OK, I’m a guy, I’m normal weight, handsome, but the area around my middle isn’t too attractive. I was heavy as a kid, and lost a load of weight, which left some loose skin around my stomach and chest, which resulted in man boobs, loose skin, and stretch marks.

I have been maintaining my new weight for 2 years, but I don’t think the loose skin will ever conform to my new weight. You cannot see it with a shirt over it.

I’m normal the rest of my body, just those areas.

I’m a very sweet guy, a guy you would call a catch.

What I wanna know is, is that are all girls shallow and only focus on looks so they can satisfy their whory little sex drives, (some girls I mean) or are there girls who actually don’t care, and want what’s on the inside.

    What about you?

I wouldnt care a bit. If we had good chemistry & you were a good person then the rest doesnt matter. Yes, some ppl are shallow but you would want to be with them anyways. If it were the other way around & there was a beautiful woman you got along well with..would you care about some loose skin & stretch marks? People that matter dont mind & people that mind dont matter. 🙂

  35. QUESTION:
    question on my sexuality? advice?
I recetly posted a question describing what i thought was a “bicurious phase i went through”. So basically all my life since i was little i had crushes on girls, been sexually attracted to them, had dreams (even wet ones) about them blah blah. I have grinded with them and gotten really horny and there is no question that i like girls. When i was 17 (last year) i was like curious about oral sex on like my penis. it was just one day i was like wondering what it would be like. Theres no problem with that. What happened after that was i was in the locker room, and this is the first and only time this has ever happened, i saw a built, handsome, and hung naked dude, and i immediately thought of him sexually and was kind of aroused. that was not even that worrying for me. but a year later, my friends were calling me gay because i have “pretty long eyelashes” and im immediately was thinking of the locker room. so i went home, and turned on GAY PORNNNN. i know it was scary. i watched like 20 hours of gay pornography, and didnt get a boner. i got sooooo much anxiety it was the worst. by the end of my session i was measuring the circumference of my penis to see if there was any change. i have tried to fantasize aobut that very man but it does not work. it doesnt turn me on and i truly believe (not trying to be homophoebic) that i was curious.

im not worried about being gay at all. i think everyones sexuality is a beautiful thing, and if a man made me happy and made my heart sing, i would be overjoyed… the problem is, i have OCD and i keep forcing myself to try and think of men sexually. i am worried that i am like going to make myself be with a man because of that one time in the locker room. im afraid that now i cant be with a woman just because I was bi-curious. like i feel i am changing myself gay, even though i still masturbate to girls and what not… like if a cute girls friends me on facebook im so excited… like sometimes i wished i just knew i was gay so that i could like have no more uncertainty. sometimes at night i cry because i imagine my life with a man, and being unhappy. like i think men are handsome and what not, and muscles look great, but for some reason i dont particularly think that is for me… like i need a caring, understanding, sweet girl with soft skin and long hair. im like really emotional myself and i dont see myself with a man but i feel like im going to force myself to be with one just because of “the locker room.” what do you guys think? again, im not homophoebic at all! i love gay people. after i watched gay porn i turned on 30 seconds of striaght porn and got a boner if that helps you all diagnose me… im I bi-sexual? or am i the ordinary heterosexual man with his occasional curiousity? again please be niceeee…trust me, i could care less what people thought of me if i was gay. i told my friends and family i was gay actually, and they were like… max stop being over-dramatic. they say that no one is EXCLUSIVELY HETEROSEXUAL. like everyone has their grey areas but im like IM GOING TO END UP WAKING UP WITH A MAN AND I WILL CRY EVERY NIGHT AND IT WILLL SUCKKKK. (i have bad ocd too so these thoughts haunt me.) what do you think guys? please help me

    • ANSWER:
Ok, I knew knew knew about 2 sentences in you had OCD. You know questioning of sexuality is one of the most common obsessions. Listen to me, I don’t think you’re bisexual as per se. There is this thing called the kinsey scale and you probably come under straight, only incidentally gay. I don’t expect you to be convinced by that exactly but if you believe just one thing, believe this: being bisexual does not mean you would end up with a man. You’d end up with a woman because bi people can choose.

  36. QUESTION:
I live with my boyfriend of 3+ yrs, I’m expecting, we share everything, but no proposal. What’s up?
Okay, so I know this is going to be long, I like give alot of details so its better to see whats up!….here it goes…

I am almost 25 years old, my boyfriend of over 3 years in going on 27. I am now 3 months pregnant. We live together, we rent a nice home together, just bought a new car together, share bills and responsibilities, I am on his insurance plan, etc., etc, it’s almost like we are already married, but no ‘real’ proposal yet…. I wear a small gold heart ring on my ring finger…. with 7 small diamonds he gave me when he asked me to be his girlfriend 3+ years ago

We have talked about marriage before. At first, he saw marriage as a ‘trap’, an end to having any kind of fun, a ball and chain, like the theme song and eerie images that go with the theme sone on the T.V. show ‘Married With Children.’ Now, later on in our relationship, He has lightened his view and words, saying he wants to get married, but he wants to work a little more on himself and his job/money first. He says that when marries, the girl he wants would be me, (obviously). He says he is just not ready yet. I asked him, ‘What would make you feel ready? What circumstances do you feel need to feel right?’ He just said ‘Babe, I don’t know, just I’ll know when I’m ready, and it will be right. You’ll be in the kitchen washing dishes or something, and I’ll get down on my knee and say ‘you better marry me'” Of course, that little answer melted my heart, but I still can’t help myself thinking-WHEN WHEN WHEN…WHY WHY WHY…..!!!!! He’s mentioned the more I ask, and bug, the more he gets pushed further from it. So, one day I played along & said “you know, I don’t want you to think I am in love with the idea of marriage….just the ring, the special day, all that. I am in love with you. And if you’re not ready, neither am I. I am ready when you are. Besides, just because we have a kid does’nt mean we HAVE to get married. And, who knows? Maybe we you OR I are not 100 percent sure.” YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN HIS FACE! HE LOOKED SCARED & FREAKED! But then quickly said “yeah, ummm…we have to be sure”

I feel like I am a great catch-
I am attractive, fit, I take pride in how I look- hair done, nails done, nice clothes. I am confident, smart, educated. I have my own business- my private massage therapy/Skin Care/Health Education practice. I can take care of myself money-wise. I never ask him for help with money. I keep a sparkling house. I do all the housework-cook, clean, laundry. I even make homemade meals and pack them up for his lunch at work. I help him take care of his skin, and give him massages. I have a huge sex drive, he says more than any girl he’s ever known. He laughs when his friends talk about their girls not wanting to give them any!!

now…it seems all peachy, but we have had our bad times, and we have just gotten out of some rotten beef between one another, and he is a recovering alcoholic. We both go to counseling to make sure we are on the right path and doing positive things. I feel like things are great. I have learned to break my old habits-like calling him all the time when he’s at work, or out with his friends. getting mad when he wants to go out, etc. I can tell he is happier now then ever, and I am too.

I have been reading this book called “Why Men Marry Bitches” In it it tells you to have a ‘hands off approach’ by not getting all sprung, being on his nuts calling him, always being available, following like a little lost puppy… making him your life etc. ….Instead, be busy and make HIM want to work in YOUR life! So, I’ve been following some of this advice and boy does it work! He is showing me 110% more affection…he comes early, HE calls me when he’s out, HE makes the plans. HE tells me how he missed me and just wanted to come home….BUT STILL….NO PROPOSAL!!!!!!!

The thing is, and I have told him this…I’m not looking for a ring, a fancy wedding or anything. I actually DON’T want to get married RIGHT NOW. I want to have this baby, move into a bigger home, get things setttled for a few years, and THEN I want to marry. I just want to be engagded. I want to feel that security. I want to know that a day waits for me somewhere down the line. I HATE not knowing WHEN. I want to have a nice, long engadgement. Why does this scare him too? Everything feels like its here. All the pieces to the puzzle.

I am looking for some advice from some guys out there who took a long time to commit. What made you get down on one knee and say the magic words? Am I doing too much for him? Is that making him feel like he ‘has me already anyways?…<---is this true? Ohhhh...so many questions!!! HELP!!!

    • ANSWER:
Amazingly I have been with my boyfriend for 3+ years also, and was wondering the same thing about why he hasn’t proposed. A lot of men suffer with the thought that they will not be good enough for the girl of their dreams (you and I) and therefore they want to make sure that they are “perfect” before they commit because they would rather make us wait till they can perfect themselves than ruin a marriage. Also, maybe he just wants you to be lost in the waiting and think that he will NEVER propose because it is taking him so long to, and then one day when you least expect it he might just throw it out there and propose. If you have a child, a house, sex, love….then you have everything you need and he Just needs a little time to see that his life is already beautiful and perfect and it is as good as it can be and maybe since YOU are the one that does everything he may feel inferior and that he is not the one supporting the family….so maybe you should back down a little bit, give him some responsibility, and make him feel like you couldn’t do it without him and then he will feel like everything has “clicked” into place. Trust me, just hang in there.

  37. QUESTION:
I’m gonna knock this bitch out unless i get some good advice?
I’m fed up with my mom at this fucking point that i am going to beat her ass.
I know that sounds extreme but you do not know what i am going through.
My mom is not like others. She has this deep hatred for black guys like a skin-head but the weird part is that she’s black herself. and constantly fucks with me about it. I became independent from her at the age of 11 after my REAL dad was killed while on duty, he was a law enforcer. I went around my neighborhood doing chorus for money so i may buy my own food, my own clothing and my own school material, When i come home i go straight to my room and do my home work and you would think that she would just leave me alone like her albino husband name-bacon but she doesn’t, instead she attempts to control me or turn me into some kind of damn white man whipping butt-mule. If anyone has any advice for me than please give it to me or this biatch is getting it. I’m not fucking playing-_-

    Answers:
    1. No i am not racist
    2. Yes, i am much younger than you think.
    3. No i am not going to the foster-care aka the system.
    4. If you do not like what i have to say than do not comment.

    • ANSWER:
      Well, good to know.
What’s much younger than I think? I ask because some schools help their students that have a hard life at home. They don’t necessarily emancepate you, but they can provide assistance in housing, job opportunites, etc… Hence I ask your age. Talk to you guidance counseler and ask if there is any assistance for your situation. I’m going to assume that talking to her hasn’t worked, right?

  38. QUESTION:
Does this girl like me???? I need advice!!?
There is this girl i like In my speech class.. but I feel she doesn’t like me back. She messed up on her speech early in the semester like 1 week ago . She basically broke down and was really nervous. And then later in the day I saw her in the hallway, I saw her smiling at me. i see her smiling once in a while at me. And then, next class I try to sit near her, and then luckily she sits next to me, while her eyes are looking at the floor. I was surprised, when I saw her before she smiles but now doesn’t even look at me, but I look at her. Don’t I deserve a smile in return…? :(. And then when i try to talk to her in class about the homework .. I feel the conversations I have die very quickly. In the hallway after class, i talk to her about her beret, she just smiles responds and walks as if nothing happened. Later next class, she came late and then my friend tells her what we’re doing in class. I try to add something and all she says if “shh im trying to listen to the teacher.” And then in class when I participate or talk… or engage with other students, talk with friends, SHE DOES NOT NOTICE. I mean shouldn’t a shy quiet girl who basically humiliated herself, try to redeem herself and talk as much as she can??? Its common sense man, its a speech class… you need to speak to feel comfortable, otherwise the class is a waste of time lol. AND id on’t know , she laughs when other people talk, but when I talk make smart comments, i make jokes and I engage with other girls or guys. I mean I talk to people, I look happy smart, intelligent, attractive, I take care of my skin, face body… how come she doesn’t notice??? Its like everything I do is invisible to her. She only really talks to this one guy, she is working with him on an interview for the class where you have to interview a student and make a speech about it. I wasn’t her partner, because maybe IM not good enough for her. But she isn’t dating him… they don’t seem romantic just platonic friends. I can’t even get on a platonic level with her, IM on a stranger level with her. What on earth am I doin wrong? Im so likeable and i look happy worthy of being a respectful individual in society, why does she hate me so much…?

    • ANSWER:
first. Chill. Give her time. If you have a car take her out as a friend. Dont become overbearing and obsessive though. Second hey if she doesn’t like you , well if you truly like her youd want her to be happy, meaning just let her go.

    • ANSWER:
Hmm, I think she likes you sometimes girls who are quiet and shy tend to get more nervous (and more shy) around guys they like. Also, she probably does notice you, just not in a blatant way. It could work to start saying hi to her in the halls or try to get to know her outside of class by asking her for coffee or something. Especially since she smiles at you, that’s definitely a good sign!

  40. QUESTION:
Need advice on interracial dating (and my family don’t approve of it). PLEASE help?
I’m a college sr. & graduate in May. I’m a white, 22 yr. old man. I grew up around tons of diff. people & cultures. But was NEVER SEEN AS A BAD “DIFFERENT.” I want to date interracially(mainly African Americans), but my parents don’t agree with it. They are kinda racist, bc they think that white men & white women should only date each other (everyone with their own race). I TOTALLY DISAGREE because I am not attracted by color nor do I stop liking someone/being attracted to someone because she just happens to be of another skin tone. I’m heavily attracted to black and latin girls, whites don’t do much for me. My mom says she don’t care really if I dated interracially. She even told a black girl than wanted to go with me tha My stepdad is total opposite. He puts it down & we have had arguments about it in the past. The thing is, I still live with them (until May), but I want to start living my life my way now. What should I do? Go with my heart or wait a couple of more months? I’m torn

    • ANSWER:
Go with your heart. Its time for your family to move into this century and become a little more open-minded.

  41. QUESTION:
I’m looking for toiletries, advice, and suggestions on my looks…?
I’m going to a camp in Va. Aug. 1st and I’m guessing it’ll be hot, and on some days I know it will rain hard. Seeing my girl 😉 need to be at my best. PICTURE OF ME= http://i43.tinypic.com/2vxoyz7.jpg

    Lotion:

I’m a dark skinned Asian with hypersensitive skin, that is dry constantly. I need a lotion that won’t leave white discoloration, will not have any fragrance (even though it says no fragrance, some have a distinctive smell; i’d prefer ones with out, if out there) a lotion that will not seep out (due to rain) white from skin, will accommodate eczema.

    Deodorant:

I bought a Lacoste cologne pack at the mall, and it came with a shower gel, and deo stick. It smells fantastic, though I sweat a lot in heat! GIRLS! Would you rather have pits on your man that don’t sweat, and doesn’t smell that great, or have some dark spots, but smells like a fricking god? (excuse term)

    Hair Gel/Shampoo/Body Wash:

For hair gel, I use Axe’s paste “Whatever” stuff. I think its good; I’ve got a fo-hawk growing around 4-5 inches, just on top of course, possible an inch everywhere else. (SUGGESTION modern hair cut to get? I’ll upload a picture so you get a visual and come up with some ideas.) At home I use my sister’s shampoo, or what ever my parents buy for her, my brother, and I. For shorter hair (SEE PIC) What shampoo wont mess with scent? As my hair styling product and cologne are pretty ‘apparent’ as is. Keep in mind, my scalp is also sensitive, though I don’t have dandruff, some shampoos can irritate it, causing me to itch uncontrollably. As for body wash, I’m gonna squeeze out all of the Lacoste stuff, though for after I run out ( small bottle) what should I use? (Sensitive skin, and cannot interfere with cologne)

    Eyebrows:

Should I pluck? I’m not really metrosexual, though I want to look the best for my girl? My bro is really ‘into his looks’ born with baby face, and wears abercrombie. So I kinda get a picture of what girls chase.

    Teeth:

I think they’re bad (slight discoloration, fading enamel, slight ridges) , though people say otherwise. I use whitening mouth wash, and the blue Listerine one that has like 6 other purposes; not TOTAL CARE. Along with the whitening mouth rinse, I have Colgate total whitening or something. Any upgrades? Also, for mouth rinse as for shampoo, can I buy travel size in walmart? Name brand.

    Leg hair;

I’ve shaved my legs before (wished i had never) even though I am a hairy person, so the stubble was pretty bad. Anyways, the hair grew back, and feels funny to touch. its pretty long now, but my girl likes it as it is masculine. I feel i should buzz it. I also have ingrown hairs on my tighs, anyway to fix the problem besides shaving down, then using smooth away/ exfoliating?

    pubes… yes i said pubes:

I’d much rather not try shaving my boys again… way to damn painful as I dont have the right shit to do it. :X Would a trim work? LADIES? How short, and what should I use. I noticed that scissors leave it sharp tipped.

    Bumhole…. yes bumhole.

I haven’t used wipes since I was like three. Though If her and I do ‘get it on’ I wanna be squeaky clean and fresh EVERYWHERE. Any WIPES, not douches, should I get for my skin condition, and hairy bum cleaning? Also, where to get discretely from somewhere I can go. No online products.

    oh, blackheads/face care;

My pores are huge, and I have a lot of blackheads on my nose, treatment please? Oily skin due to lotion, though if I dont moisturize my face to the extreme, it dries out easily. keep this in mind.

Kk, i’m pretty sure I covered anything. If you know of something (ladies) that you hate about your man not fixing, that I haven’t mentioned, please elaborate. Guys if you have the same problems, and have found the cure, share share share! Any and all advice to any question, and or something I missed, is greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,

    Charlie

[no rude remarks; if you don’t have a suggestion, please do not leave a comment. RESPECT]

    • ANSWER:
I admire you for asking all this… i’ve had several bf’s who didn’t have a clue for all these things and i’ve tought them so dont feel bad… it shows a great understanding for you to reach out and ask.

Lotion: Im going to suggest you ease up on the lotion and try treating your dry skin internally. Take vitamin E. Once every other day and see how it feels after a week. If its still dry then try daily. But im thinking that just 2-3 vitamin e pills spread over a week will help it.

Deoderant: Dont worry about the wet/dark spots. Us girls dont care about a guy sweating… its the smell that can be unbearable.

Shampoo: im having the same problem and am currently hunting for something the the same thing u r.

Eyebrows: They look fine … maybe just a little bit of plucking at the arch’s bottom. Use a little bit of vaseline over each brow and this helps you seperate the hairs u want to pluck to lesson the chance of errors.

Teeth: cant seem them too well in the pic but if u want more whitening use the strips. The whitening is supposed to help but doesn’t for everyone. Also make sure to get your dental visits in to clean. Your dentist usually doesn’t lie so ask them. Also make sure you use the electric toothbrushes as they get so much more than manual brushes. (the circular is better than the back and forth kind)

LEG HAIR: No dont shave ever. It only makes it come back thicker and stronger. Just stop working about the leg hair and it really is more manly to have than not to have and us girls dont mind it at all.

Pubes: Just trim it. Doesn’t have to be way short in fact too short is uncomfy for us and for u. Epil stop is a good thing for hair in the entire area including azz but it can be painfull if you are not careful so be VERY CAREFUL.

Booty: Believe it or not just regular baby wipes do well for this and its also a good thing to have after sex. You dont have to be embarrassed buying them in the store cause only you care what your getting and your manly enough that when buying baby wipes anyone see you is going to think you have a baby at home 😀

Face Care: Try neutragena deep poor cleanser (its an amber gel) first. If that is too drying then try the lotion for of the same.

Also for a little added freshness powder your ass…. it feels good especially when ur hairy there. And if you get those lil spots on your ass use rubbing alcohol on them.

      Ok good luck 😀

  42. QUESTION:
    salon name?
I am going into business for myself. I am a hairdresser and I have the oppurtunity to rent a room in a skin care facility and have like a one man salon, I am just not sure about a few things. Should I name my salon or should I just put the name of the skin care clinic on everything. I am just not sure how that works as far as paying my taxes and having a business banking account and all of that stuff, any advice?

    • ANSWER:
      Name it …

      Hairy Tales
      Hair Raising Experience
      Roll Up and Dye
      Perm Place
      No Split Ends

  43. QUESTION:
    Serious question for uncircumcised men……?
My husband and I did not circumcise our son and we were wondering if there is any “special care” that we need to be doing for him ( he is 1yr). Also I have had 2 people tell me that I need to practice streching it so the skin will retract when his older but I was under the immpression that this was unneccesary. I do not have anyone to ask and could use some practical advice from some in same situation THANKS
No offense to posters but I feel routine circumcision is not a medical neccessary procedure and is basiclly genital mutilation, I am asking this question to other uncircumcised males not for others to pass judgement.

    • ANSWER:
I am now 25 and am in the army the reason why i say that is because i have to go for about two weeks without a shower in the field and my penis is still free from infection. When i was old enough to masturbate i noticed i could not pull my foreskin back all that way but over time it does stretch and now i can pull it all the way back. The head of the penis will remain sensitive which is great for sex but if you are considering getting it done the younger the better its up to you. The simple answer to your question is no you don’t need to do anything at all.

  44. QUESTION:
    still need facial care help?
I know that internal and external factors both count, and i also have pcos so that accounts for some of my skin probs on my face, just not clear, blotchy red but thats caused by sensitivity etc, got soem spots old red dots now from old spots, got and do get blackheads.
But i do feel that a good cleansing routine will help, and know that what works for one doesn’t necessarily work for another but still would like some advice.
My doc put me on the pill cerazzette, been on it about a year now,but had been on that one before and others, dianette is not a option for me as due to my weight, plus the pcos, and that when i was 18/19 they put me on it for acne then, and my blood pressure went up, they won’t put me on it again, and i’m only to be given mini pill not combined.
i also take metformin to help with insulin prob assosciated with pcos,i did have periods before the pill ut due to the pcos they were reduced to about 2 heavy days a month compared to the ordinary 5-7 days i had before, but since being on the pill i get if anything a light red then quickly turns to brown discharge.
I’ve been on zineryt face lotion for a few months or more, brought down the inflammation alot, but still have what i mentioned above,he’s since wednesady when i had appointment, taken me off zineryt to see how things go, to be honest was worried about damage to my skin putting that stuff on it everyday, its a facial antibiotic.
I have spent alot of money trying so many cleansers, toners and moisturisers, alot of them had spot helping ingredients in which just irritated my skin,or had fragrance and essentila oils crap in,which again caused me irritation and breakouts, then some stuf thats fragrance free and soap free, i worry if its doing the job,if its non comedogenic etx,oil free, and whether i should use a non wash cleanser or a wash off one,the expert from qvc says in the magazine, keep a wash off cleanser near to bathroom, for times where you haven’t got time for proper cleansing, what does she mean?
i thought a wash off cleanser was enough for removing makeup and grime dirt/oil sebum etc.
So do you have any ideas, cause also i am trying to stay off the slap, sick now its spring of looking made up and having stuff all over my face, and the time it takes, although i must admit its hard being at work or say to go out without it, people do look maybe they think i look good and its me thinking otherwise,as i’ve had attention from men when i’ve not been made up which has suprised me
Anyway i would like any advice poss, and any recommendation on products that may be good a s 3 step routine if this is really needed, also i may already have some things you mention, thanks

    • ANSWER:
Hi Ive got problem skin too and what I use is Desert Essence face wash, and moisturiser. Its got ingredients like tea tree oil which helps with acne and the ingredients are natural (organic) which helps with sensitive skin. Health food shops sell them.

    • ANSWER:
That was a mouthful, but um…first of all you need to sit down with her and tell her what that message on Myspace was all about. Hiding it only makes her think it was worse than it actually was, so clear that up ASAP.

Secondly, you need to have another heart-to-heart with her. Explain how you feel and where you want your relationship to go. Give her time to build up trust in you again.

  46. QUESTION:
Could I please have some advice on my story?
    Hey,
*This is a repost of my last question since I got no answers*
Well this is a working progress. Publishing a book is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Can anyone give me some advice on my story so far? I don’t think it makes a diferrence, but I’ve just turned 13. I’ve included the Preface and about 1/4 of the first chapter.

    Preface

Not many children, at the age of thirteen, can say that they witnessed both their parents die, right in front of them.
    But I can.
So much had happened in the past five years, that all I wanted to do was crawl up in a ball and cry.
But I knew that wouldn’t solve anything, and if I wanted to prevent other people going through this, then the first thing I had to do was escape this crummy orphanage.
It wasn’t exactly hard, I mean, as much as the name “Sanctum Sanctuary” suggests, this place wasn’t exactly safe. I picked the old deadlock with a bobby-pin in less than ten seconds. Easy-peasy.
But then the events of the day before came rushing back to me, and the pain was so great, that I doubled over clutching my chest.
“It’s her! Erica, run!”He had shouted as the other man was ripped to shreds.
Being the foolish teenager, I naturally stayed, my eyes locked in horror.
    It was mum.
Dad either had to kill her, or be killed.
    He chose the latter option.
By the time dad’s limbs were strewn across the ground, I had started to run.
I don’t know how, but some super-human strength suddenly possessed me, and I began to run faster than I ever had before-never looking behind me, never taking my eyes off the path ahead. But she was gaining on me too quickly, and I couldn’t keep running much longer.
    So I killed her.

    Chapter 1
    Him

I was in so over my head, it wasn’t funny.
Six screaming, bloodthirsty, telekinesis using banshees were on a mission. The sole purpose: to kill me, and every other person in this town. You see, banshees aren’t exactly the most forgiving of people, so when centuries ago, they died and left their three-thousand odd acre farm to the government, it was naturally converted into a pleasant town. But you see, to these particular banshees, it was their land. So, naturally, everyone had to die.
There wasn’t exactly a set date they killed everyone, I guess they just randomly decided that today was the day everyone on their land died. Freak accidents? More like angry spirits.
And I guess, since I was one of the few people in the world that actually knew about this whole new universe, then it was my responsibility to prevent other’s deaths. I didn’t care if I died in the process, I had nothing to live for; no dad, mother, boyfriends or even friends. Nothing was worth living for.
Even the beautiful decor that littered every room couldn’t draw my attention away from the translucent, pale figures as they came towards me, their incredibly long and dark hair that trailed soundlessly on the carpeted floor.
Their faces were so gaunt, and the skin was pulled so tight over their cheekbones that it looked like it was made out of tissue paper.
But their eyes were the scariest, every time I looked at them; I felt an upending sense of death and doom. It was as if all the happy memories had been sucked out of them, leaving only unpleasant ones left.
They were now incredibly close, no more than two feet away, and I had no way of attacking them.
Every single weapon was either broken on the ground or useless against them. Real life isn’t like in movies, how you can cross spirits over or exorcise them. Most spirits are far too manipulated and evil to succumb to that kind of stuff. The only thing that ever posed a threat against them, was to cut off their source of negative energy that they manifested on. But that was generally pretty hard, so I usually settled with replacing their negative energy with positive. It was all very complicated.
“Fu….!” But I was cut off, because a second later lamps, books and even tables were flying towards me. With the combined powers of all six ghosts, any inanimate object was at their bidding, going against all the laws of gravity.
These banshees, like the majority of demons, had the ability to manipulate and move inanimate objects. Starting out, they could only move things like feathers, but the objects were like weights at a gym to them; the more they did it the stronger they god.
These guys had been around for at centuries, having the whole time to improve and develop this ability of theirs. Hell, if they wanted to, I’m pretty sure they could lift the whole house.
The banshees let out a high pitched scream, and I felt my blood run cold. They screamed. Banshees only scream when someone’s about to die, me, for example.

Oh, by the way, this is all double spaced. It’s just comes out in this question as not.

So, can I please have some constructive criticism? What do I do good? What do I need to improve on? Does this have any hope of getting published?

    Also, I’ve cha
    Thanks for the answers guys!
It got cut of, but in my answer I was saying how I changed my old writing style recently. My old once used to be more ‘mature’ I guess.
    Thanks guys!

    • ANSWER:
hey this is pretty cool! ah ok some ‘constuctive critisism’…
i like the preface but it’s a little hard to follow, realy the preface should be the simplest part of the book, perhaps having less seperate lines? also “i picked the old deadlock in less than 10 seconds. easy-peasy” the rest of the preface sounds pretty serious and well, realistic in a sense, where as this bit seem exaggerated idk… just a little out of place, maybe “being the skilled (girl, guy? i couldn’t tell? is the character’s name Erica?) it barely any time at all to pick the old deadlock”

the first chapter i like! some notes though; you could try using some more decriptive writing, you use good words, but when you go into explaining things you drop you descriptive style. if you do this it’ll slow your writing down and make people pay more attention.
the word naturally is a little over used maybe? replace with ‘or course’ or ‘unsuprisingly’
i like your writing style though! the attitude of the character is witty and quirky =] i look forward to you expanding on it more! you’re a very talented young writer! =]

      hope this has helped… =]

  47. QUESTION:
Could someone please check/edit or give advice for this essay?
For Literature we have to describe a picture off the internet:
    http://parallelsthroughimage.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/forest_fire_mccolgan.jpg

The teacher told us that our essay can be loosely based on the picture. For example I wrote about a phsycho who lights the fire. This essay is really important to me, so please could you help/give advice to me on it?? I’d be so thankful!
    So here it goes:

I stop my car at the side of the forest. The sun is just going down, and I feel that the hour I have awaited all my life is coming closer. The sky fades to red, the same color that best describes my emotions at this moment. The memories of my past have haunted me too long, “but tonight I shall reign the forest” I mutter to myself. At night I sometime lie in bed, thinking of that pitiful day that ruined my life. The accident where nobody even looked at me afterwards. I was nobody, nothing, just air. But tonight people would see what they deserved. So much for all the care and love that I had gotten in my childhood. My heart pounds, as sweat pearls role down my forehead. My tongue feels dry, as I painfully swallow. The rumbling of thunder fills the air. The clouds that had been hanging miserably all day, finally let go of their tears. “Everybody is poignant today.” I whisper as I pull out the matches out of my pouch.
I get out of my car, as I throw away the keys. “I won’t need them any longer after this”. The keys land with a thonk on the dry ground. I look at my belongings in the car for a last time as I walk towards the inside of the now dark and gloomy forest. The tall pine trees seem to rise into the heavens. Only a small ray of sunlight shines through the trees. My head ache becomes increasingly stronger. I get the feeling that I must suffocate any moment. I cautiously take out the matches and start to hold it against some dry leaves. I’m getting close to my dream. Dream to be in touch with fire. Get away from the miserable, desolate life that haunts over me, like a shadow cast over my eyes.

It is full moon, as a stutter words that only I can understand. Yes! It catches fire. Slowly, like a wave of gold, it creaps down the slopes of the forest like magma. The trees start to light on fire, as the heat rises up to my face. My head is spinning, as continue to light the fire. One match after the other, getting rid of my horrid aggressions.
The air fills with my chuckles, as I feel more powerful than ever. Midnight, a slow rustling becomes louder and louder, until the red and gold trees light up the forest. Grey smoke starts to cover the whole area, as a start to scream in excitement. The fire looks like fireworks reaching up into the sky. Inside I feel like I am burning up too, but as I take revenge on all the people who had lived next to this forest, and neglected me—a feeling of power takes up inside me. Now I sweat more than ever, my skin stings like burning coal, as I lay myself onto the ground.
Sirens fill the air, but all I can hear inside my head are the voices telling me that I have done the right thing. I try to stagger out the hot, gleaming forest. Like a drunken man I again fall to the floor. Heat rises, as a stinging pain pierces into my head. A feeling of joy, but also loss fills up inside of me. I close my eyes, and cry tears of pain and regret. Why had I done such things? I close my eyes, and dream that amnesia takes over me. Forget everything of this wretched life. Maybe I could start over, start a family and get a new job. I lay down and prayed that I would wake up, and everything would just have been a dream.

  48. QUESTION:
My husband isn’t attractive…. any advice?
My husband is not an attractive man – at all. I knew that when we started dating, and at the time I thought I could overlook it. Quite a few people mentioned his looks to me and it was quite embarrassing. I would consider myself a decent looking woman (I’ve been told such, at least!) and my husband was attractive to me because of his intelligence, stability and generally positive personality traits. He is a good husband! He works hard, is supportive and kind, and is an amazing stepfather to my children. For those reasons I decided to marry him.

I’m still struggling. I’ve mentioned things to him over the years (we’ve been together four) about some of his physical qualities – acne scarring (I understand that he cannot do much about), skin tags everywhere, obesity. He even picks at his acne all of the time. He’s tried to work on that habit and has improved somewhat. It’s just gross and a total sexual turnoff.

Yes, I knew all of this when we got married, I know that. I figured that I’d just get used to it all and the lack of physical attraction would be overcome by the emotional attraction (at least we have that on some level or I’d never be able to be physically intimate). When we were first together and got married I was also overweight and didn’t take care of myself terribly well. I believe that a part of me thought I couldn’t get a “sexy” husband anyhow, so looks shouldn’t matter. That was my insecurity. We discussed getting in shape together and I held up my end of the bargain and lost 50 lbs. He has gained more weight.

So here I am, married to a very nice and stable guy who is also a good friend – but who I’m not even slightly physically attracted to. I’m wondering if anyone out there would have any constructive advice, because I’m struggling here. I don’t *want* it to be this way, but I wonder how great our marriage could be if I could just somehow feel that physical desire.
I guess I was naive in thinking that looks aren’t a main factor in a long relationship. My ex was/is very attractive, and that didn’t work out (we are still friends) so I think a part of me thought that the physical part only went so far.

I cannot imagine leaving him based on my lack of attractiveness for him. That seems like such a shallow thing to do, you know? I do dream about what it would be like to have that passion for someone…man, it would be great. *sigh*
Regarding his looks – it was my family 🙁 My friends have never mentioned anything about it.

Thank you for reminding me to focus on the good. I consider myself to be caring, loving and accepting and because of who he is inside decided to marry him. I wasn’t expecting to still struggle with the physical attraction. We met when we were in our late 20’s and I was his first relationship – he’d never even had anything past dating for a few weeks. He’s struggled with his physical looks working against him for a long time, by his own admission.

    • ANSWER:
OMG, girl I completely understand. My husband is not attractive and a funny shape. When we have sex, and I see the face he makes it gets worse and I close my eyes to not get turned off or switch positions where he is facing away. I am not physically attracted to my husband. Some people just don’t understand. Mine isn’t overweight and I know he cannot help it.

Why do I stay? Because I love his character. He isn’t as ugly as the first time I met him. Love blinds you for a bit. This man will give, or do anything I ask, and he does it without complaining. He takes care of family without complaining about what he doesn’t have. How can I give that up for a pretty face?

I could find a pretty man who will treat me badly and cheat, or stay with this ugly man who surprisingly does make me happy. Don’t feel bad.

  49. QUESTION:
my dad has colon cancer and I need some advice…?
I was a week into the first semester of my sophomore year at Ball State University when I got the call. My brother told me that my dad was bleeding and they didn’t know where the blood was coming from. I came home immediately and a week later we got the news. My dad had colon cancer. They operated and took most of his colon out, I thought that would be it but I was hit by another blow. The cancer had spread. To his liver and in his blood. They gave him less than a year to live… I can’t describe the feeling. Pain, loss, anger. I’ve never been so mad in my life. That night was the first time I had prayed since my father stopped forcing my brothers and I to go to sunday school. I didn’t pray for hope, I’m agnostic at best, I prayed to tell whatever or whomever that I hated it/them/him/her. If there is a God he’s sadistic and I want no part in it. The inability to understand why this happening is killing me. A reason, words, would not make the cancer go away I know that. But… why?
I’m not coping. The only time I feel okay is when i forget. I am constantly on pins and needles. It’s uncomfortable, I feel like I’m coming out of my skin. My stomach is always in a knot and vomiting has became an almost daily routine for me. I have nobody to talk too. Nobody that would understand. My dad got custody of my brothers and I when I was barely four years old. My eldest brother is a druggie that lives with my dad and depends on my father and I for everything. After he lost his two kids to CPS, my dad got custody and moved my brother and his kids into our house and started footing their bill. My brother’s response to finding out my dad was gonna die was one of the most selfish things I’ve ever heard in my life, “What am I gonna do?” My other brother moved into his friends house at the age of 14 and calls another man daddy. Nobody loves my dad like I do. Nobody. And so I am left alone. Already and he’s not even gone yet. He is the only thing I have.
I am only 19 and on a daily basis I work full time to pay the bills, take care of two kids who are 3 and 4, clean our house, cook our meals, and do online classes at night. I feel like I’m 40 and falling apart at the seams. Overwhelmed and depressed. I need help and I don’t know what to do… Venting has helped a little but has also made me feel guilty. My dad would do anything for me. So I guess advice is not what I’m looking for…just a cure for cancer….

    • ANSWER:
Wow. I’m so sorry. You know, I have 4 older sisters. One is a drunk, one lives across the country, and the other two lived closer to mom than I did. So a couple years ago, we find out mom’s gonna die in a few months. You know, I think that after all of it, I am the only one who did what I needed to do to feel okay NOW.

Do what YOU need to do to feel okay about what you did for your dad while he died. It’s so important, baby. You have to be able to live with yourself later. So do your other family members. If they don’t, they will pay spiritual consequences (guilt, big time!). Don’t worry about them, worry about you and the kids. And if you were anywhere nearby, I’d be there in a microsecond to cook and clean once in a while and give you a day off from the kids.

Don’t feel guilty. Your feelings are completely normal.

Instead of being mad at God, though, you might want to ask Him for the strength to see you through this. I think you’ll find that MUCH more productive and much LESS stressful than being pissed off.

      ((((((Here’s a hug for you))))))

do you like my speech?well-written?corrections?speech advice?
Have you ever found yourself alone, pondering what awaits you after death? Have you envisioned the gates of heaven or the fires of hell? Well, I’m here to let you know that this is a worrisome topic that can tend to invade many peoples minds.  For the majority of the Mexican population, it is infallible that life after death will depend on your faith in God. That is because the majority of Mexico is overwhelmingly Catholic.  Being Catholic signifies that you have firm faith in God, but, more importantly you believe in an afterlife.

As death approaches, recital of the maestro cantor is common.  The object of the chant is to release the soul from the body and irritate and confuse the demons who invade the exterior of the home waiting to capture the soul.  The demons degrade at the sound of the prayers and the soul is set free.  Those who wait vigilantly at the bedside are restricted from weeping, for fear that the soul might stay among the living.  After certainty of death, the body is dressed in the person’s best attire.  The relatives pray at the sight of their deceased.  As condolence, friends bring gifts such as candles, coffee, and food.  Twenty-four hours later the funeral commences.  Usually held at a church or cemetery the ceremony is given by a priest.

The day after burial,a novena, or nine day prayer, commences, to assure that the soul of the deceased detaches itself from the living.  There is limited mourning that takes place after death.  One of the ways women show their grief is by wearing black; although, men never do.  Mostly everywhere in Mexico the souls of the deceased are said to return to their graves annually on the eve of All Souls’ Day. Food is usually provided by relatives to feed famished souls that traveled on their perilous journey to revisit their graves. Flowers are used to garnish the tombstones so that the souls feel welcomed by their relatives.

Relatives provide an altar for the dead for the purpose of mourning them. Items that reminded them of their deceased are placed on the altar, such as favorite foods and personal items. Marigolds are a commonality as well; they adorn the altar and represent the Earth.  Candles are also a necessity; their scent helps guide the souls to their graves.  Relatives must take special care of the flames provided by the candles, because if blown out, the souls lose their way and never make it to the altar.

Imagine you lived in 700 A.D., during the era of the Mayas. You are in the middle of the jungle and suddenly amid the hoots of the spider-monkeys and the sweet song of the birds, you hear a slow yet rhythmic beating. Your curiosity entices you to pursue the sound and you find yourself pushing wildly through vines and branches to find the source of the beating. As you draw nearer, your heart begins to beat faster and faster almost as if in unison with the beat of the drums. Instinctively you know your almost there, and you can feel the anticipation rising, along with the suffocating humid air. You pace yourself for what is to come and slowly peer through the trees. You gawk, open-mouthed, at the sight before you. A lifeless body lay sprawled on the floor covered in strange markings, with a demented man chanting viciously in foreign tongues. Smoke that smells of incense rises all around, and there are people gathered around weeping. Near by there is a small boy tapping at animal-skin drums with rage. Instinct takes over you and you quickly turn the towards the other direction, and sprint wildly away, never to return again.
Most of Mexico is strictly Catholic, and they attend Church every Sunday, without fault. Catholic’s believe that after death the soul leaves the body to rejoin God in heaven or to suffer eternally for their sins in hell with Satan. However, ancient civilizations in Mexico like the Mayas had totally contradictory beliefs. The Mayas were extremely religious people who lives revolved around the fear they held for their gods. They practiced many traditions and rituals to worship their gods and to commemorate the deceased. They also believed certain types of death were more worthy then others. Those who died by sacrifice, suicide, or death as a warrior were highly revered and were said to go directly to heaven. The Mayan underworld ,Xilbalba, was were the evil suffered eternally. Death was thought of as a journey, and there were 13 layers of heaven and 9 layers of hell. Each layer had its own god or goddess, and was a varying degree of the afterlife. Sacrifice in Mayan religion was vital to please the Gods. Games such as Pok-a Tok, a Mayan ball game, were played to honor specific Gods, losers of the game would be sacrificed. Although these traditions are long since past, Mexico still pays homage to them by reenacting them in plays and in popular theme parks.

We may not know what happens after death, but we all believe in something. Some of us believ
Some of us believe in heaven and hell, others in several levels of an afterlife. Being human, we all have our doubts and questions, and we can’t help but wondering. The truth of the matter is that we will never know the answer until our passing. Once I read an article between an atheist and a priest. The atheist argued that we shouldn’t waste our lives with meaningless practices that take up our days and fill our heads with worry. The priest argued that you loose nothing by believing in God, but by not believing in him you loose everything and a you gain an eternity in hell. Our minds are full of invading questions that cause thoughts of worry. Questions such as, Is there a God? What will happen after I die? and Will I go to heaven or hell? The answers await you after death, but hopefully our informative speech gave you some more insight and allowed you to open your perspective on death.

They practised many traditions and rituals to worship their gods and to commemorate the deceased. They also believed that certain types of death were more worthy then others. Those who died by sacrifice, suicide, or death as a warrior were highly revered and were said to go directly to heaven. The Mayan underworld, called Xilbalba, was where the evil suffered eternally. Death was thought of as a journey, and there were thirteen layers of heaven and nine layers of hell. Each layer had its own god or goddess, and was a varying degree of the Mayan afterlife. Sacrifice in Mayan religion was vital to please or appease the Gods. Games such as Pok-a Tok, a Mayan ball game, were played to honor specific Gods, losers of the game would be sacrificed. Although these traditions and beliefs are long since past, Mexico still pays homage to them by re-enacting them in plays and in popular theme parks.

We may not know what happens after death, but we all believe in something. Some of us believe in a heaven and a hell, whilst others believe in several levels of an afterlife. Being human, we all have our doubts and questions, and can’t help but wondering what actually occurs. The truth of the matter is that we will never know the answer until our own passing. In an article between an atheist and a priest, the atheist argued that we shouldn’t waste our lives with meaningless practices that take up our days and fill our heads with worry. The priest argued that you loose nothing by believing in God, but by not believing in him you may loose everything and a you could gain an eternity in hell. Our minds are full of questions that cause such thoughts of worry. Questions such as: is there a God, what will happen after I die, and will I go to heaven or hell are common. The answers are revealed to you only after death, but hopefully our informative speech gave you some more insight and has allowed you to open your perspective on death.

I think that your prose is very good and that you should consider a career in some form of writing, you only need to learn a bit more in the correct usage of punctuation marks. You should also try to write from the second person rather than the first person and avoid the dreaded, “I”.
