Ancient Freckle Removers

Do you want to get rid of freckles instantly? Then follow what the Irish recommend: anoint your face with the blood of a bull or hare and your problems are over!

Too hard for you? Check out this preventive measure from Filipinos: don’t eat barbecue or any fried foods on Good Friday so you won’t have freckles.

While doctors say that freckles are harmless and don’t signify a health problem, a lot of people don’t want them. That’s understandable since these pigment cells can make you look ugly and old. Perhaps that’s the reason why our forefathers tried desperately to eliminate them. No wonder they came up with these silly superstitious beliefs about freckles – some of which survive to this day.

The Encyclopedia of Superstitions, Folklore, and the Occult Sciences of the World published in 1903 offers a fascinating glimpse into early man’s obsession with freckles and his desire to remove them. It says that freckles around the eyes means you’ll drown to death!

To lift this curse (and remove freckles), the author provides several options. You can wash in the dew before sunrise on the first of May. If you just read this now and realized it’s already September, go to a graveyard and wash your face in any urn you find there. The third option is a variation of the first – wash with dew from wheat before sunrise.

If wheat is a problem, young lilies of the valley gathered before sunrise will work just as well. Rub them on your face to take away freckles. An easier way is to count your freckles, wrap the same number of pebbles in a piece of paper, and throw it away. Whoever picks up that paper will inherit your freckles!

The last advice is reincarnated in The All New Book of Lists for Kids by Sandra and Harry Choron. An old folk cure suggests rubbing your freckles with a penny and throwing it away. The poor soul who finds the penny will get your freckles! Or mix buttermilk with lemon juice and apply this to your face together with a live frog!

Ovid, the most widely read Roman poet, recommended the Pharian wash for freckles. This exotic scrub was made of crocodile entrails and was guaranteed to whiten the skin. The Germans, on the other hand, believed that rainwater found on tombstones is a great freckle fighter.

In Superstitions: 10,000 You Really Need edited by William Carroll, children are warned not to pop the seedpods of the maple tree into each other’s faces or they will soon develop freckles. March snow water or lemon juice is said to be a good freckle remover. If you can stomach it, a more effective cure is washing your face with your own urine or smearing it with cow manure. A baby’s wet diaper will also do.

Luckily, we are light years away from our forefathers when it comes to fighting freckles. Today, we have a variety of anti-freckle creams that are safe and effective. Most of these products are easy to use and can lighten freckles over a period of time. A popular choice is Lumnaderm, a whitening cream that eliminates freckles, unsightly age spots, sun spots, blemishes and hyperpigmentation. When used as directed, Lumnaderm will balance uneven skin tones and illuminate your skin.

What is a REALLY good black-head remover???
I have black heads on my nose, and I don’t have a lot, but I really want them gone! I’ve used tons of products, but nothing seams to work. I always wash my face like CRAZY in the shower, and in the morning and before I go to bed, but I still have these stupid brown dots, and I know they aren’t moles or freckles, because one time I kinda squeezed one off… I really wanna know if there is a good prodect that helps get rid of them quickly.

      How to Remove Freckles
Summary: Removing freckles completely can only be done through laser treatments at the dermatologists office, but an over-the-counter skin brightening gel and at-home surface peels can lighten the skin over time. Reduce the appearance of freckles on the face with beauty advice from a certified aesthetician in this free video on makeup.

Watch above video for more information on what you can purchase over the counter to help with freckles.

      What are freckles?
Freckles are flat tan, brown or black spots that appear over time on
surface of the skin that have been exposed to the sun, particularly
the cheeks and nose. Freckles are common among fair-skinned
      individuals who sunburn easily.

They’re more common in the summer months and tend to fade in
      the winter.

If you have freckles, your skin tends to be more prone to sunburn,
so it is far better to look after your skin and always cover it up. It will
not only help your freckles from becoming darker, it will protect your
skin from the sun. Wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.
Every day, you need to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF
30 or higher to protect your face from the harmful rays of the sun
whenever you go out and reapply sunscreen frequently throughout
      the day.

Check the medications you are taking. Some medications can
      cause skin sensitivity.

Personally, I love freckles, and they come in and out of fashion like
everything else, so go with the flow, and make the most of your
      natural assets!

If your freckles are light, don’t even try to cover them up. Show them
off by using a sheer foundation. You can also try lightly rubbing in a
little concealer that is closest to your natural skin tone. If you
happen to have the darker ones that you just can’t live with, choose
a cream foundation to cover and even out skin tones.

If you have freckles that become darker and larger during the
summertime, it could be a sign of skin damage. You should be
more careful about applying sunscreen next time you’re in the sun.
Modern treatments for lightening freckles include freezing them
with liquid nitrogen, and the use of strong acid peels or ablative
laser treatments. Freezing, chemical peels and ablative laser
treatments, while more effective than conventional treatments, can
damage healthy skin, cause scarring and require lengthy recovery

You can use a skin lightening cream such as hydroquinone 2%,
available over the counter. Or a doctor can prescribe stronger
versions of this plus tretinoin, another lightener. Beyond that there
are chemical peels and laser treatments. The trick is to keep up
the skin lightening regimen and use broad-spectrum sunscreens
year-round to minimize new freckling. A dermatologist should be
      able to help.

If you have freckles or sun damage ask for Tri-Luma which has a
      bleaching agent and retin-A.
There are also natural remedies to fade or get rid of freckles.
Vitamins A and C should boost your immunity to the sun’s rays and
might reduce the darker pigment over time. In great grandma’s
time they used this recipes to try and fade freckles out.

It is very helpful to use sour milk products, lemon, grapefruit,

One tablespoon of parsley and one cup of boiling water. Wipe the
skin with this solution or freeze it and wipe the skin with the ice
      cube daily.
Or you can try this one:
Get the juice of half a lemon. Wipe the juice onto your freckles,
      using a cotton wool ball.
Do this twice a day for several weeks.
Be careful, because lemon juice can made your skin to be more
      sensitive to the sun.
Aromatherapy may come to your rescue. Lemon essential oil is an
acclaimed lightener. You can use sparingly so as not to cause skin
irritation, but you can apply this oil neat using a cotton tip.

Hope this helps. I have just learned to live with mine. I’m very white with with strawberry blond hair. So in other words have tons of freckles. Good Luck!!

How to get healthy looking skin quickly?

    2. Is there anything I can buy at a drugstore that really! works as pimple removers?

    3. What foods can I eat that will help me have a healthier skin glow and less breakouts?

    5. Anyone know a home remedy on removing dark under eye circles

    6. How to make a scar lighter or go away?

I used to have horrible acne the ones that hurt so bad that you can’t even pop because they were so deep in the layer of my skin…lol
Anyways I’ve tried a lot of products and I’ve done a lot of research coz, being a professional in the industry it’s pretty embarrassing to have acne.
So first you need to find out what’s causing your pimples coz even if you use any product if your problem is in the inside of your body then what ever you use on the outside isn’t going to work.

Here are some possibilities to look into:

Food allergies ( get tested for them.I’m allergic to chocolate, dairy, eggs and malt)

Bad diet (eat more raw foods like salads nuts, stuff w/ omega 3, fruits)

      Hormonal imbalance

Too much sugar ( stop drinking sodas high sugared juices)

      Not enough water intake

stress – get at least 8hrs of sleep

lack of exercise (believe it or not when you exercise you create more blood circulation it detoxifies your body.)

Once I solved those issues my skin cleared up for good and I used good products to maintain my skin and heal my scars. Take the skin care e-profile questionnaire it will customize a routine for your and the products are on sale right now. A basic set will only cost 2 Dollars a day so that’s like a mocha that you can live without LOL.. I can send you before and after pics to back it up. Give it 3weeks or I’ll give you your money back. I have black dots on my nose and they’re not freckles. what are they and how do they go away?
I got them when i reached my teenage years. i really don’t know what they are but I know they are not freckles because they are bumpy. I thought they were blackheads but I realized that I use blemish AND blackhead remover every day. You don’t notice theya re there unless you look really close at me. It’s really annoying. What are they and how can I make them go away?thanks!

    • Jason Cyril says:

Those are really blackheads unless you have some crazy skin disease. They’re really hard to remove, however, you can remove them by scrubbing your face every day and taking a bath as often as you could. Its caused by dirt that stuck in your pores due to oily face. just continue washing and look for face scrubs or creams or the like that can help with that problem

      See this Question/ Answer;_ylt=Anzc1RE.JHEYaLkjB6ZJdh4jzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=1006043000955a.
User says it doesn’t and neither does lemon juice.

FACE: I had pimple scars, discolorations, many freckles, age/sun spots, uneven and sun damaged skin, even moles and this completely got rid of them all.
Use a natural oil – olive oils work really well – and massage over and over quite vigorously (that is the key to it working!) Do with a “to and fro” action not a circular one, using tips, sides and front of fingers. As skin has to adjust, gradually build to a 20 min or more daily treatment(can do in one, two or more sessions) for fastest results). They will fade completely overtime.

If apply to whole face it will give you a completely clear, totally blemish free, healthy and glowing skin. You will not need to use any other treatment or product ever again.

HANDS/ARMS/LEGS: Use a rectangular hand held green pan scrubber(the softer thin ones) dip in oil and rub repeatedly directly on the spots – reddening of skin is OK but be careful not to overdo.Skin quickly adjusts. you can rub more strongly in a day or two. See distinct fading in one week. Keep it up and they will completely vanish.

If use sunscreen apply on top of the oil, It is equally, if not more, protective and the oil protects from harmful sunscreen ingredients. I am in intense sun for many hours and with one application of even an spf 15 sunscreen I get complete protection and.never burn nor get any sun damage.

What is a good and inexpensive skin bleach/freckle remover?
I have these large, dark freckles on my nose and shoulders and I hate them. I’m allergic to sunblock and staying out of the sun doesn’t seem to have any effect on the marks anyway (I rarely go outside and am always covered with clothes and hats when I do.)

My dermatologist once prescribed something like Porceila; or something with a name like that, but it was hard to find, so I never used it.
Is there some good product for this, under $20 including shipping to/within the US?

I have been using Likas soap, but these freckles are much too dark to see much effect from it.

    • sunflower says:

I do understand your problem, it is also mine partly and I have used so many products, though from renominated marks, most of them have only temporary effect or a very slight visible one. There is one method, totally natural and not invasive, which made me at last get rid of my freckles and the effect is permanent. I am talking about the Green Peel by Dr. Shrameck,100% herbal, safe and as per me unique method for removing any kind of skin pigmentation ( also in back, etc),little scars, plus the great rejuvenating and anti-age effect. That is what I suggest you to do if you want your freckles to get erased once and forever.
If you want the product that have helped me a lot, applied topically over your skin I would say that the “Led” mark is one of the best (a French dermo cosmetic brand), namely the their depigmentation emulsion “Trio D” and “Trio S”. Another brand is ISIS dermatologie, again French. Do not leave with the impression that those products are too pricey, though are really proven and innovations in dermatology. As I live in Europe I cannot be precise as to the exact price in USA, but I think it is not more than 20$ or at about that sum. If you need any other advice or information about those particular products I’ve used or Green peel I’ll be happy If I could be of help.
      Have a great time!

If anyone knows how to prevent them (sunscreen doesn’t work i get them anyway) WITHOUT surgery, laser removal, lemons, or freckle remover cream that would be great!

    • Edrienne says:

It’s in your genes so there’s no way to prevent getting freckles if you keep tanning. In fact, your freckles might worsen and turn into big brown patches. Applying a good sunscreen will only reduce the effect (as compared to not using any sunscreen at all) but you can’t totally avoid it if you tan too much. Taking Vitamin E and C supplements can also give you better protection against the sun.

There were totally 15 moles / black spots on my face and body before, I tried this mole remover and most of my moles were gone right now. But please pay attention, don’t over use in order to avoid getting scar. Hope it works for you too.

For more information, please see the following using methods, it is very useful for unwanted moles, beauty marks, black spots.

10 ML Skin Care non-Laser Removal

      (1) Clean the nevus and the area around it, use a toothpick (do not use a cotton stick to tip or wipe) to mix the liquid and sediment, and then tip a little amount of the mole remover and apply it onto the middle of the nevus. The area would turn to white colour after 1 minute. Use alcohol or water to clean the mole area after 10 minutes (If you tip the amount of mole remover properly, you don’t have to clean). The mole would peel off (May help with finger) in 8 to 20 days. Repeat the process again until the mole peeling off if the colour of the nevus is dark. (it is suggested applying the liquid to nevus on hands or legs first to see the results and learn to control the usage before applying the liquid to other areas of the body, DON’T TRY on FACE for the first time!)

The range that I like by far the most for this is Orthoderma. That would be good for you too because when you order you get a really good scrub glove, which comes free. I find that much nicer and less messy than chemical scrubs.

Tips for Freckles – Prevent freckles by taken some of these preventive measures

      * Wear a hat to keep the sun from directly hitting your face.

      * Use sunscreen or sunblock with UV factor 30+

      * If you can avoid peak sun hours, between 10 am and 4 pm when the sun is most intense wherever you live.

      * Check out your medications since some things you apply to your skin or take internally may cause skin sensitivity such as antibiotics, birth control pills and some topical products that cause sun sensitivity including alpha hydroxy acids and benzoyl peroxide.

      * Ask your doctor to determine if what you use on your face or take internally would make your skin more sensitive to the sun.

      * Stay as far as you can from tanning beds because these devices expose your skin to lots of pigment-inducing UV radiation; one tanning bed session is equal to a whole day spent at the beach without sun protection.

      * Look for over-the-counter fading creams containing hydroquinone and follow the directions and precautions on the package carefully.

For getting rid of freckles you need to be consistent because even a few minutes of unprotected sun exposure each single day will add freckles to your face and/or other parts of your body.
Natural and home remedies to get rid of freckles

There are also several natural remedies to fade or get rid of freckles such as washing your face with sour milk because lactic acid provides a gentle peeling effect without irritating or drying your skin. Also lemon juice is a time proven freckle fighting remedy but do avoid the sun directly after application. It is not necessary to rub your skin with a slice of lemon, just apply the juice with your fingers as if it was a regular lotion.

Fruit and vegetable masks made with mashed cucumbers, apricots, strawberries or red currant improve your chances to getting rid of freckles the same as sour cream mask, but do not rinse such masks completely, just remove them gently with a facial tissue, then apply a non-chemical moisturizer. If your skin is oily, use lemon juice before applying any mask and never leave to pay attention to control sun exposure.

Finally, a mixture of natural parsley juice or parsley infusion with equal amounts of lemon juice, orange juice, and red currant juice under your favorite cream will help you keep your freckles invisible while you get rid of them.

I have a large freckle on the tip of my nose. People tell me to wipe off the “coffee stain” Freckle remover?
It’s a constant nuisance when people tell me to get rid of the coffee stain on the tip of my nose. It is actually a freckle or a
bunch of freckles together. I have used lemon juice on it as
well as apple cider vinegar, but it is still there. How can I
remove it, or at least cover it up. Some people think that freckles
are cute, but this one looks like a “coffee stain”. Anyone has a remedy?

    • Button Face says:

you can’t get rid of it with any of the suggestions..go to a facial laser centre and they can do it for about $400.00 and trust me you will be pleased after you have it done

  31. Kaylee says:

    Freckle remover?!?!?!?!?!?
Im white with lots of freckles, and im a little darker in some places tehn i am others, so i wanna find a cream/liguad tha t whitens your skin a little bit and removes freckles. help!

    • Thing says:

First off, awesome name! My name is Kayleen. Anyway, I bought a cream at CVS that’s supposed to fade freckles but it didn’t really work but at the same time, I didn’t use it on a consistent basis. Maybe it’ll work for you though. It’s called Dermisa Skin Fade Cream. It kinda smells weird though.

I think for the most part, the only thing you can do is protect yourself from the sun to prevent more freckles from forming. Wear sunscreen, wear a hat, and limit your time outdoors.

Does anyone know any acne scar removers or frecle removers that really work?
Acne scars and freckles are my problem and i dont want to wats my money on stuff that deosnt work. I am 13

    • nooneinparticular says:

If it’s freckles you want to get rid of….don’t bother with the old lemon juice remedy. It’s an old wives tale which doesn’t work. All it does is leave your skin feeling dry & tight & devoid of it’s natural oils. I know it’s hard (I am covered in freckles & hated them until I was about 20), but you WILL get to a point where you don’t even notice them.

On the plus side….freckles are so useful in later life – they mask wrinkles! 🙂

EDIT: Please don’t be tempted to sugar scrub your scars. It will make them worse.

  34. sky_nerraw says:

What natural freckle removers really work?
So I have tons of freckles covering my entire body, and I hate them! I can’t spend tons of money on laser surgery or chemical removal stuff, so I’m trying natural removers. So far, I’m trying cucumber juice right now and I am planning on trying lemon juice.

Does anyone know if any of these really work? Or do you have suggestions for other natural freckle removers/faders?
I’ve read that you can use toothpaste too, do you just peel it off in the morning or?

My wife use papaya kojic and licorice base soap and cream for acne scars, pigmentation, freckles and blemishes. These products made my wife’s skin even tone, glowing and smooth as if 10 yrs ago. These work wonders. Maybe it will work on you too. Try searching it through Google ‘shopaholic’s bargains’

    • kellie. says:

try washing your face with alpha hydroxy acids.
i used to do this, and i accidentally got rid of my freckles [i didn’t want them gone!]
you can find alpha hydroxy acids naturally in foods like fruits, milk, and yogurt.

      & wear sunscreen anyway, everyday.
it prevents skin damage, wrinkles, cancer, etc.

(it is suggested applying the liquid to nevus on hands or legs first to see the results and learn to control the usage before applying the liquid to other areas of the body, DON’T TRY on FACE for the first time!)

i have freckles and fair skin.
i like my freckles but it would be nice to have completely flawless skin.

is there any products that remove freckles, or reduce the appearance of them.
or any make up that will cover them?

    • cutie says:

No need to cover up freckles with concealers and foundations.Do one thing whenever u go for facials just mix 1-2 spoons of potato juice in Scrub and at the time of massage during facial use potato juice instead of water. This will help u alot and show remarkable change after first attempt, and then gradually freckels becomes lighter and lighter.I have had this problem but now i don’t have any freckle on my face.I assure u my dear this will happen.

  44. ChrisChristine says:

Have you given any thought to how much money you have wasted over the years?
Just lately I have been thinking about all the money I spent needlessly or foolishly.
    Clothing I never wore
    Freckle remover (when young)
    Wrinkle remover (when old)
Used cars that fell apart soon after I bought them
    Jewelry I never wore
    Fabric I never sewed with
Traffic tickets (I should have obeyed the law)
    Books I didn’t read
The list goes on and on and now that the economy is so bad, I wish I had put the $$$ in the bank.

I’m not talking about spending money for something I needed or enjoyed, just foolish spending.

Please tell me I am not alone. Misery loves company. LOL

    • Ret. Sgt. says:

Guilty as charged. However, I think we start to see things through wise aging and that makes a lot of things we did seem foolish. Yes, I wasted plenty and now wouldn’t dream of spending money on some of the things I used to.

However, I still have my soft spots for a nice firearm, and always like old cars( most of my money was wasted on re-building those) and as I get older, I seem to look for more quality in something that I think my kids can use in the future.

Seems like most of the “things” my wife and I get are more like building up inheritance objects for our kids. We , ourselves, need very little but I should start wasting a little more money taking her out to a nice meal occasionally.

    • Little Monster. says:

I always found dabbing lemon essential oil on before bed and washing it off in the morning faded my freckles.
I used it undiluted though and it irritated my skin a little… so if you have sensitive skin, dilute it a bit with water.
It worked after me doing that once. Although my freckles are a bit faint, and i only get them in summer. So you may have to do it a few times. 🙂

I tried lemon juice too, and while it’s cheaper, you get what you pay for. I’ve not seen much of a difference with it.
